Outfits selected by The Grandmother.
A lot of overtime for The Husband.
Exhaustion for The Mother.
LoriAnna, born into privilege, photographed here while she easily smiled. That curl on her head, nearly natural, was strategically coiffed by her mother to project the right amount of adorable. This is the only picture that exists today of LoriAnna. Every last picture, beside this one – safe in the hands of LoriAnn’s aunt – were lost in a fire that swept through the family home in a matter of minutes, also taking LoriAnna. She was 7 when she died and her parents never recovered emotionally. This picture was her parents’ most valued possession. Still married into their 40′s, they died within months of each other – the family claimed – of broken hearts. The pictured treasured by LoriAnna’s cousin, Maribel, who loved LoriAnna so.
